This expansion will reduce the firm’s dependence on retailers such as Origin Energy, AGL Energy and TRUenergy Holdings, reported Bloomberg.
Pacific Hydro Australia general manager Lane Crockett was quoted by the agency as saying "That’s an alternative avenue to market.
"We’ll be looking to expand that business, and that might provide opportunities so we don’t have to rely on the big three."
The company also remains bullish on selling clean energy to homes and is seeking funds from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency for a solar power project in New South Wales having lost a competition for federal government funds earlier in 2012.
Australia is looking to generate 41,000GWh of electricity from renewable sources by 2020 which represents a 20% pie of the overall energy demand in the country.
