Oyster Creek plant spokeswoman Suzanne D’Ambrosio was quoted by APP.com as saying that the repairs were completed on two of five redundant recirculation pumps, which are used to move water through the reactor during power operations.
The maintenance could not be performed while the plant was generating electricity, D’Ambrosio added.
Located in Lacey Township, New Jersey, US, the single unit 636MWe boiling water reactor power plant was taken off the grid on 17 November 2013 for maintenance work.
Operated by Exelon, the plant generates enough electricity to power 600,000 homes in the state.
