The plant will spread across 171,115 m2 on a leased site owned by Nippon Coke & Engineering and feature 47,838 solar panels, which are estimated to produce 13GWh of electricity annually, enough to power 3 3,620 households.
K Clean Energy, which is 70% owned by ORIX and 30% by Kyudenko, is the owner, while Kyudenko is the contractor for the solar project, which is expected to come on stream in January 2015.
Earlier in November 2011, ORIX and Kyudenko announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop their businesses particularly in the environment and energy-related fields.
Under the partnership, the companies are jointly building projects at 10 locations in the mega-solar power generation business.
In June 2013, ORIX announced its plan to develop mega-solar and rooftop solar power generation businesses at 77 sites totaling 170MW capacity with 143.2MW alone coming from mega-solar power plants.
