Orion said that demand response is the newest addition to its suite of products and services that deliver permanent distributed load reductions including its Compact Modular high-intensity fluorescent and LED high-bay series lighting platforms, InteLite dynamic sensor and control systems, direct renewable Apollo solar light pipes and Solyndra photovoltaic panels.
Neal Verfuerth, chairman and CEO of Orion, said: “Our long-term plan has always been to enter into the demand response business. Our penetration into more than 5,600 commercial and industrial facilities across North America uniquely positions us as a trusted resource to supply the revenue and energy savings that deploying a demand response strategy can deliver.”
The company has deployed its energy management systems in 5,612 facilities across North America. Since 2001, Orion technology has displaced more than 528MW, saving customers more than $856m and reducing indirect carbon dioxide emissions by 7.4 million tons, the company said.
