Initially, Akela-1 well will be drilled as part of the program followed by Bandarlog-1, subject to joint venture (JV) approval, and then possibility of a third well, Baloo-1.
The Baloo-1 drilling is based on the results of Akela-1 with the JV.
The Akela-1 is expected to be spud during the last week of October, which will be followed sequentially with the other wells in PEL 110.
Located approximately 25km north of the Keleary oil field and west of the James oil field, the PEL 110 license prospects were discovered during Dundinna 3D seismic survey interpretation processed in 2014.
The Akela and Baloo prospects are located in the south-east portion of PEL 110 whereas the Bandarlog prospect is situated approximately 13km to the north-west.
Scheduled to be drilled to a total depth of approximately 2,640m, the Akela-1 well comprises multiple horizons being targeted with the primary target being the Poolowanna Formation with secondary targets in the Tinchoo, Birkhead and Hutton formations.
The Bandarlog-1 well, which is expected to be drilled to a total depth of approximately 2,525m, will test a mapped four-way dip closed anticline on the Dundinna 3D Seismic Survey.
