Based in Houston, US; Calgary, Canada; and Winfrith, UK, the new centers will provide detail information to oil and gas companies and help them in optimising their fracking operations.
OptaSense’s service will comprise of Fibre Optic Data Acquisition Units to monitor multiple wells at the same time and combines Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and pump data to provide a comprehensive image of performance during entire fracking process.
It will provide operators a unique view into the fracking processes taking place deep underground.
The centers will also provide information directly into customers’ operation centres, where OptaSense experts will deliver stage by stage reports on fluid placement volumes throughout the well completion process.
The Calgary facility will be the global center of excellence for OptaSense’s fracking monitoring services.
It will be the dedicated downhole fibre training facility and the engineering control center for operations throughout North America.
OptaSense managing director Magnus McEwen-King said the company aims to provide data directly to the customer ans help him reduce operation costs, increase yields, and improve safety.
