Opel plans to debut Vivaro e-Concept, an electric van with up to 400km extended range designed for commercial vehicle operators, at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Fair in Hannover.

The e-Concept will feature advanced propulsion technology that will deliver electric driving range of 100km using 111kW electric motor and will have 5.0 cubic meter storage capacity able to carry 750kg of load, making them suitable for inner city delivery transport application.

The car will also feature a range-extender technology capable of increasing the total driving range of the EV to more than 400km when used for regional hauls or shuttle services, enabling the commercial vehicle operators to use them for normal routine business.

Opel’s extended range propulsion concept will enable the EV to drive permanently with engine and electric motor propulsion, thereby eliminating complete dependence on the vehicle’s lithium ion battery, rechargeable on a standard household 230V outlet, to travel long distances.

Opel/Vauxhall commercial vehicles executive director of international operations Chris Lacey said that the company would like to test the acceptance of advanced propulsion technology by showing the Vivaro e-Concept to the commercial vehicle specialists attending the show.
