NSM will also buy OPEL’s OPEL Tracker technology which is expected to increase the output of photovoltaic systems by up to 30% and install a complete 10kW system in less than four hours.

OPEL Technologies president and CEO Leon Pierhal said, "The completion of this sale will enable OPEL to achieve its objective, announced on June 20, 2012, of divesting its Solar Division in order to focus on the POET platform technology of OPEL’s ODIS Division."

Northern States Metals president and CEO Tom Meola said the acquisition of solar assets from OPEL Technologies will broaden the company’s Solar FlexRack product line and the OPEL’s Solar Tracker fits the kind of utility-scale projects it is aiming for.

"The OPEL Tracker technology is a proven system that is designed to increase the yield of a Photovoltaic System by up to 30 percent," Meola said.

"It eliminates inter-row shadowing, allowing for larger systems to be installed in a smaller area."

US-based NSM is the developer and manufacturer of Solar FlexRack, a photovoltaic mounting system.
