The Australian E&P major will add Cambay-75 to the current production stream in case of a positive outcome.
The unfaulted western flank of the Cambay field is estimated to hold a potential resource of 10 million barrels of oil in place. Oilex has been working at Cambay to maintain a long-term production target of 3,000 BOPD by the end of 2009.
Two of the oil wells, the Cambay-64 and Cambay-74 are already producing in the block. Since October 2008, when production first started in the block, Cambay-64 and Cambay-74 (to end-December 2008) produced 16,800 barrels of oil.
The petroleum ministry recently endorsed a proposal by Oilex to modernize its existing Gas Collection Station (GCS) at Cambay. The new GCS is going to have an installed capacity to process more than 15,000 barrels of oil per day and 3 million standard cubic meters per day of natural gas.
As part of its E&P retinue in the block Oilex has already run a specialist wireline logging programme and liner, from a depth of 2,080 metres, in another appraisal well, Cambay-23Z. The results have been inconclusive.
Oilex brought Cambay-74 on-stream late last year following a brief testing programme at the oil and gas field. Oilex has a 45% participatory stake in the Cambay field.
