Brazilian oil and gas firm OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes has discovered hydrocarbons in the Albian section of the 1-OGX-30-RJS well in Santos Basin offshore Brazil.

The well is located in the BM-S-58 block at a water depth of approximately 150m and the company holds a 100% working interest in this block.

OGX encountered a hydrocarbon column in Albian carbonates with about 330m and extensively fractured through 50m in the well section.

This discovery is located in an area contiguous to the Belem accumulation which was discovered through the drilling of the OGX-17 well and for which the Discovery Evaluation Plan was recently approved by Brazil’s oil regulator ANP in the BM-S-56 block.

OGX said that both discoveries showed similar columns and structures that could be complementary to each other, further increasing the synergy for production.
