The UK’s npower renewables has submitted its consent applications to build and operate the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Wales.

The Gwynt y Môr project will be up to 15 km off the coast of North Wales, stretching from Prestatyn in the east to Penrhyn Bay in the west and could comprise around 200 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 750 MW.

Given consent construction on the project could begin in 2008 with commercial operations anticipated in 2009.
