The government has increased budget to fund renewable energy projects to create private sector jobs and lower the cost of clean energy.
Obama will send the budget to the US Congress this week for approval.
Obama said: "As I said in my State of the Union address, rather than subsidize the past, we should invest in the future. That’s why the budget I will send to Congress this Tuesday will double funding for clean energy research and development by 2020.
"This will include new investments to help the private sector create more jobs faster, lower the cost of clean energy faster, and help clean, renewable power outcompete dirty fuels in every state."
Over the last seven years, the government’s investment in clean energy created thousands of jobs.
The electricity generated from renewable sources such as wind and solar is cheaper in many communities than conventional power. This helped the country to grow economy and cut total carbon pollution.
The Idaho battery test center is helping electric cars run longer on a single charge, entrepreneurs in Ohio are developing new methods to harness wind power from the Great Lakes.
