NYK-HINODE LINE, subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) Group, has secured the ocean carriage for module contract by the JKC Joint Venture (JKC J/V) for the Ichthys Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Western Australia.

JKC J/V is formed by JGC Corporation, KBR Overseas and Chiyoda Corporation while Ichthys LNG project is a joint venture between the operator INPEX with a 76% stake, and Total with 24%.

Gas from the Ichthys Field, located in the Browse Basin, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate, and will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin through an 889km subsea pipeline.

The Ichthys LNG project is expected to produce 8.4 million tons of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG per annum, along with 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.

For the Ichthys LNG Project, the LNG plant, including processing units, will be constructed off-site in large scale modules and shipped to Darwin for assembly.

NYK-HINODE LINE will allocate two of its module carriers to transport various main units as module cargo for this project and more than 20 voyages are planned.

The period of transportation is planned to be from the first quarter of 2014 to the second quarter of 2015, and will involve transportation of modules from Thailand, China and the Philippines to Darwin, Australia.
