The timing of Mr Van Halderen’s departure is reportedly a natural consequence of the current developments within Nuon. The company is currently in the process of establishing two new companies as a result of the Independent Grid Management Act.

The act forces integrated Dutch energy companies to completely unbundle the grid activities from the production and supply activities.

The organization of the network company and production and supply company will reportedly be advanced at the time of Mr Van Halderen’s resignation. Nuon said that the two companies will be ready for unbundling by mid-2008.

In consultation with the supervisory board, the three remaining board members have been appointed to lead the formation and organization of the two new enterprises.

Mr Loseth will be the chairman and Doede Vierstra will be the CFO for the production and supply company. Nuon noted that it will remain as one company until unbundling becomes formally effective.
