Nuclear

Legislation setting out details of the German government’s proposal to phase-out nuclear power has been delayed to enable further consultation with ecologists and industry.

The bill was delayed when operators objected to an accompanying ban on nuclear reprocessing. The bill was approved with the clause banning waste processing removed.

The Environment minister wants more information about the working life of Germany’s 19 nuclear reactors before redrafting the bill.
