The boiling-water reactor, located about 25 miles south of Vicksburg, Mississippi, will see a surge in the production capacity from 1,200MWe to 1,500MWe after the uprate.
Entergy has plans to implement the uprate after the refueling outage.
The NRC staff evaluated and reported that Entergy can safely increase the power output of the reactor by replacing significant portions of several plant systems and components, including the turbine rotors for the reactor feed pumps.
The company will also have to replace power range neutron monitoring system, steam dryer, and the high-pressure turbine.
The power uprate focused on the nuclear steam supply systems, instrumentation and control systems, electrical systems, accident evaluations, radiological consequences, fire protection, operations and training, testing, and technical specification changes.
