Solar and thermal solutions provider Novan Solar has completed a 70-panel solar thermal system for the new Erie Recreation Center in Erie, Colorado.

The heating system will generate nearly 275MWh of energy every year. The company said that this will provide a significant portion of the energy needed to heat a large aquatics area. More than 60 metric tons of carbon dioxide will be reportedly offset by the system each year.

Jacob Futro, Novan founder and president, said: Novan is proud to have been able to complete this project with Erie. Novan also designed and built a 144-panel solar water heating system for the North Boulder Recreation Center in Boulder, Colorado and has other recreation center projects planned for Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico.
