The two power plants, one located in Boone County and the other near the Village of Annawan, would have a combined generating capacity of up to 200MW.
Currently, Northland and Burns & McDonnell are working collaboratively to secure off-taker agreements with various interested parties for purchased power.
Northland Power president and chief executive John Brace remarked about the acquisition of the rights to these two projects.
"We look forward to expanding our portfolio of clean, reliable gas-fired energy, while meeting the local communities’ growing energy needs," Brace said.
These two power stations, when operational, could produce minimal environmental impacts while offering benefits to their respective communities.
Northland Power owns or has a net economic interest in abut 1GW of operating generating capacity and 320MW of generating capacity in construction.
Burns & McDonnell is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting services company.
