The transmission line is being constructed from Vavuniya to Chunnakam via Kilinochchi in Sri Lanka, reported Colombo Page.
During the three-decade long civil war, the transmission lines were destroyed and this is the first time in about 25 years the Northern Province will be connected to the national grid.
The newly built Kilinochchi grid station will be opened by the President during his visit to the town, according to Sri Lanka Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The power ministry is rehabilitating the 150km transmission line from Vavuniya to Chunnakam in Jaffna peninsula via Kilinochchi sub depot for the electricity to Northern Province of the country, reports the colombopage.com.
