Nordex has received an order from Spanish utility Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables (GNFR) to supply turbines for six new wind farms with a combined output of 191MW.
Pursuant to the contract, Nordex will supply 58 of its AW132/3300 turbines. The order also includes the installation at the wind farms, along with multi-year services for the turbines.
Construction of the first turbines is expected to start in the summer of this year. All the six wind farms will be located in Spain, where Nordex has manufacturing facilities.
Besides this, the towers for the wind farms will be manufactured locally using the processes developed by on its own, stated Nordex.
Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa said: “The Spanish market is regaining momentum after a protracted lull, with international key accounts such as Gas Natural Fenosa holding key strategic significance for us.”
In December 2017, Nordex received an order to supply and install 12 N117/3000 turbines at the Epine Marie Madeleine wind farm. The wind farm will be located in France and the order was placed by GN Renewable Investments.
The contract covers turnkey delivery of the project along with 15 year services for the wind farm.
Currently, Nordex has installed more than 21GW in more than 25 markets and generated €3.4bn in sales for 2016. With a work force of about 5,000 employees, the company has its manufacturing plants in Germany, Spain, Brazil, US and India.
