Polish energy company Everen Spolka is entering the financial market as a new member of Nord Pool, becoming the first Polish member of the exchange.

Nord Pool is the largest power exchange for financial contracts in Europe, measured in both volume and value of transactions. The primary objective for Everen’s joining is to participate in the European Union allowance (EUA) market.

We are very pleased to be the first trading company from Poland to trade EU allowances on Nord Pool. Everen, as the trade unit of EDF group in Poland, has solid sales and purchase channels for EU allowances transactions and is well positioned to utilize a membership on the Nordic power exchange, commented Joachim Wojaczek, chairman of Everen’s board.

Poland will be the 16th country that is represented in the EUA market at Nord Pool. The exchange has more than 400 members from 18 countries across a wide range of energy producers and consumers, as well as financial institutions.
