Noble Energy, an oil and gas exploration and production firm, has made an oil discovery at a deepwater well in the Gulf of Mexico.
The well at the Santiago exploration prospect is located in 6,500ft of water on Mississippi Canyon Block 519.
The company drilled the well to a total depth of about 18,920ft and discovered about 60ft of oil pay in a high-quality Miocene reservoir.
Noble Energy is the operator of the Santiago prospect with a 23.25% working interest.
The company said Santiago is the third discovery in its Galapagos project, in addition to the prior successes at Santa Cruz and Isabela.
