Japanese auto major Nissan is set to install approximately 100 DC quick chargers for electric vehicles (EV) at LEAF-certified dealers across 21 major markets in US.

According to the company, the chargers using CHAdeMO standard has the capacity to charge the vehicle from depleted to about 80% in about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, AeroVironment will supply the quick chargers, besides providing installation services for nearly all of the new quick charging units.

Nissan Downtown Los Angeles general manager Richard Luengo said, "There is a steady stream of folks using the charger, and we’ve generated significant good will in the LEAF community. Over the past four months, our dealership has seen a marked improvement in sales, and some of that is clearly attributable to the new quick charger."

The EV quick chargers are anticipated to become operational at all the 100 additional dealerships by 1 April 2014.
