Nissan plans to implement the solar energy model for its main office in Chennai, while Daimler is also working on a similar solar energy generation initiative, reported the Business Standard quoting the companies’ representatives.
The companies’ measures are in accordance with the state of Tamil Nadu’s Solar Energy Policy, which plans to generate about 3,000MW of solar power in the state by 2015.
Nissan vice president Biju Balendran said that the company is looking forward to reduce the usage of water and CO2 emission, during the launch of Auto Sustain, a public-private partnership being undertaken by UL DQS, a product safety certification company.
Tamil Nadu’s Solar Energy Policy aims to generate 1,000MW through solar energy from 2013-15. Solar energy parks and incentives to producers are a few steps that are being considered under the policy.
