The company took the decision after Eni, the operator of the well, encountered only one hydrocarbon bearing sand over 800′ of reservoir quality sands.
The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 11,585′ using Discoverer Seven Seas rig testing all the pre drill geologic objectives.
Eni drilled the well targetting a series of Upper Miocene – Pliocene deep water channel sands similar to the sands the operator and its partners found in the nearby discoveries.
Further analysis of the results from the Lebah-1 well will allow Eni and its partner to assess the updip resource potential of the 11,500′ and other sands.
The partners have identified other potential drilling locations on the trend to explore.
