The natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility, located in Johnston, Rhode Island, will be operated by an affiliate of NextEra for an initial period of one year under a service contract.
Siemens has recently upgraded the combustion turbines of the power plant to increase the facility’s nominal capacity to 583MW from 550MW.
NextEra said it continues to own and operate clean power generating assets in the US and Canada, with a total capacity of over 16,520MW.
Entergy is an integrated energy firm engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations.
