NextEra Energy Resources and Entergy Arkansas have commenced construction of an 81MW solar energy center in Arkansas, US.
The project named as the Stuttgart Solar Energy Center will spread across 475 acres. It is being built about seven miles southeast of Stuttgart.
Developer of the project is an affiliate of NextEra Energy Resources which will also build, own and operate it.
Construction of the solar project is planned to be finished in about nine months. The project is to create up to 250 jobs during its construction phase.
Upon completion, the solar facility will comprise over 350,000 photovoltaic solar panels.
Armando Pimentel, president and CEO Armando Pimentel said: "We are pleased to work with our partners at Entergy to bring low-cost, renewable energy to their customers and introduce the first universal solar project of this scale in Arkansas.
"This project will bring good jobs, tax benefits and affordable, renewable energy to the state for decades to come."
The energy generated from the solar plant is expected to meet the electricity needs of more than 13,000 American homes.The solar plant had secured a 20-year power purchase agreement with Entergy Arkansas.

Over its lifespan, the Stuttgart Solar Energy Center is estimated to bring in about $8m in additional revenue for Arkansas County.
