The contract was awarded by China National Nuclear.
Under the contract, Nexans will supply its cables and accessories for applications within the nuclear containment area, which will be installed from 2015.
The cables will be manufactured at Nexans’ facility in Mehun-sur-Yevre, France and would adhere to strict international safety standards including K0, K1, K2 (class 1E LOCA).
Nexans market segment director Olivier Dervout said, "In addition to Nexans’ high technical expertise and the work it has previously done to supply cables for Phase 1 of this project, Nexans has been awarded this contract because of its strong customer-centric approach and its willingness to work closely with China’s nuclear regulators to ensure the cables and accessories are qualified for this project."
The Tianwan nuclear project includes construction of two Russian type VVER-1000 pressurised water reactors, Units 6 and 4, with a capacity of 1,060 MW each.
