Nexans has received a contract from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to provide high voltage power cables and infield cables for the new offshore super complex which will serve the Nasr oilfield located 130km north-west of Abu Dhabi City in UAE.

Under the €90m contract, Nexans will supply 132kV XLPE insulated three-core subsea power cable featuring three fiber optic elements.

The company will also provide 11kV XLPE insulated three-core infield cables which also feature three fibre-optic elements.

HHI is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the second package of Nasr full field development project.

The project comprises a gas treatment platform, a separation platform, an accommodation platform and installation of subsea power and infield cables.

Scope of work under the project includes modification of existing manifold tower and two wellhead towers. Work for the power distribution facilities will be carried out from the existing Das Island in the Persian Gulf.

Nexans plans to manufacture the Nasr cables at its facility in Halden Norway.
