
The link will run between Tonstad in Norway and Schleswig-Holstein in Germany.
Nexans will design, manufacture and install two 525kV cable subsystems, with a total length of over 700km, off the coast of Norway and Denmark.
The company will install mass impregnated non-draining HVDC cables at depths down to 450m.
Nexans plans to start production of the cables at its Halden plant in Norway in 2016.
Nexans senior executive vice president for high voltage & underwater cables Dirk Steinbrink said: "The NordLink project will be Nexans’ largest subsea power cable contract to date in terms of length and value and we look forward to continuing our close working relationship with TennetT, KfW and Statnett on this important project.

The project, which is being developed by Statnett, TenneT and German bank KfW, will connect the Norwegian and German electricity markets to exchange green energy.
Excess wind and solar power generated in Germany can be exported to Norway. Hydroelectric power from Norway will be exported to Germany.
The exchange of power will increase security of supply in both countries and contribute to increased production of renewable energy.
