Hudson Transmission Partners is developing the power line, which will initially provide 320MW of firm capacity from the PJM region to midtown Manhattan.
New York State PSC chairman Garry Brown said that this transmission line will improve the reliability and security of the transmission system and will provide access to new markets for the purchase of energy and capacity.
The New York portion of the transmission line on land will be constructed using conventional urban street trenching methods, and the portion located in the Hudson River will be installed using jet plowing.
