The project is expected to have an installed capacity of 50MW and will generate electricity through coal gas mines in salt range area and will be processed by the Punjab Coal Mining Company.
Punjab government is also planning to launch ten more such projects and they will result in provision of 500MW cheap electricity. Punjab Coal Mining Company is expected to return the money to the Punjab government from its profit of the first project. This could help the government work on more projects.
Dr Samar Mand, an atomic scientist, will head the technical team of the project and the team will supervise the implementation of the project.
As reported, there are possibilities of getting electricity through coal in a 70km long and 20km wide salt range area.
