The company has spud the Waitapu-1 well with a measured depth of 2,213m and true vertical depth of 1,925m through the Urenui formation targeting the Mt. Messenger formation.
New Zealand Energy has completed drilling the well to its target depth and evaluated the open hole logs and started casing the well and is now planning to penetrate and test the Mt. Messenger formation.
Upon the completion of perforating the well, the company will reposition the rig on the same drill pad to finish the drilling of Waitapu-2 well.
The Waitapu-2 well has been drilled and cased to 300m with the help of a smaller rig.
