The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), in India is working on a 75MW hydro power project at Doyang in Wokha district of Nagaland. The scheme involves the installation of three 25MW generating units. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded the project on a turnkey basis. The second unit is scheduled for commissioning in September and all the units may become operational by the end of 1999 or early 2000.

Meanwhile, NEEPCO has awarded a contract to BHEL for supply of hydro generating equipment for the 25MW Kopili stage II hydro power project in Assam. The contract involves the design, manufacture, supply, supervision and erection of a 25MW hydroturbine with matching generator, busduct and microprocessor-based controls.
