Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is drafting a proposal for the construction of a new 260MW hydroelectric power plant on the Ba Ha river in the central province of Phu Yen, according to the Vietnamese News Agency.

Construction work, which has been given the go-ahead by Phu Yen’s authorities, is expected to start in 2004 and cost US$311M. The provincial authorities have asked EVN to co-ordinate its activities with them concerning road development and any resettling of local people
