The Czech company Skoda JS, part of the Russian group OMZ, has manufactured a batch of upgraded drives of control and protection system (CPS) rods for unit 6 of Ukraine’s Zaporozhe NPP, which features a Russian-design VVER-1000 reactor. Skoda JS said on 10 August that 65 CPS rod drives had passed acceptance tests. The new equipment will enable “longer design service life, easier handling and a number of new functions which enhance NPP operational safety”. Upgrading of the group and individual control system for CPS rods will be carried out during scheduled maintenance outages.
