Electricity of Vietnam is to build a 500kV transmission line to connect the country’s three southern provinces of Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. The line will transmit power from plants in Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s Phu My complex to the major southern industrial centres and will connect to the backbone 500 kV line which links the north and south. A third 500 kV line links the central highland province to Pleiku to Ho Chi Minh City. Construction of the 60km line, which will cost around $100 million, is being supported by Japan Bank for International Cooperation. The project is expected to take two years to complete.
