The department rejected the applications for 600MW Kali Gandaki-2 project and 180MW Andi Khola project.

DoDE spokesperson Gokarna Raj Panta was quoted by Hydroworld.com as saying that license for Kali Gandaki project was rejected after the state-owned firm failed to pay revised survey license fee.

Further, the application was rejected as any project more than 500MW falls under the Investment Board of Nepal’s purview, Panta added.

As per the revised fee structure, NEA has to pay NPR6m ($67,849) to secure a survey license for Kali Gandaki project.

Panta added that the company did not pay the revised fee of NPR5m ($56,541) for Andi Khola project.

"The NEA did not respond to our repeated reminders to come up with the increased licence fee," revealed Panta.

This is reportedly the first time that the department rejected the application of a state-owned firm.
