The scheme to renew the old metal gas main running along Hereford Road started in August 2008 and was due to end in the middle of September 2008. During the work, traffic has been restricted to one way only. Engineering problems have caused work delays and the scheme is now expected to be completed on October 17, 2008.

Steve Mullock, National Grid project manager, said: We have had problems with this job which has slowed down our work rate considerably. We apologize to motorists for any inconvenience caused by the one way system and to residents for restrictions to residential parking, but it has been necessary to allow our engineers to work safely and we are now on track to complete the work by the middle of October.
