UK-based power and gas network operator National Grid has awarded contracts worth up to GBP1.2 billion over the next 10 years to support both planned and reactive work on its four gas distribution networks.
According to National Grid, the contracts with two partner companies will include the replacement and maintenance of existing assets to ensure the continued efficient, safe and reliable operation of the networks.
The company has said that the gas operations contracts will be split geographically. The east consisting of the East Midlands, East Anglia and North London gas distribution networks, and the west covering West Midlands and North West networks. The partner for east is Morrison Utility Services, and for west is Enterprise Managed Services.

Recently National Grid declard that £1.5million upgradation by the company will revitalise the gas delivery system in Shepherd’s Bush to ensure safe, secure and reliable supplies for the 21st century. Accordingly, from 20 April the North London Gas Alliance, a partnership between National Grid and Skanska, will begin replacing 6.5km of iron gas mains with new plastic pipes.
