The first phase of the work will involve vegetation clearing along an existing transmission corridor or right-of-way (ROW) running through Burrillville and North Smithfiel, while the actual construction of new transmission power lines and upgrade of existing lines in ROW will start in May 2014.
Approximately $200m are being spent by the company in the Rhode Island segments of the IRP, which includes the 18m route through Burrillville and North Smithfield and a second leg running for five miles from North Smithfield north to the Massachusetts border.
Work on second leg is scheduled to commence later in the spring, and complete by the end of 2015.
