The funds have been used by Strata Solar to build 15 solar projects in the North Carolina state, which added 94MW, powering about 11,250 homes.

NCB senior vice president Matt Wright said the bank is proud to continue its commitment to funding sustainable projects, part of its mission as a socially-responsible lending organisation.

"We are pleased to partner with Strata Solar, a similar mission-focused firm, and look forward to what our partnership can accomplish in the coming year," Wright added.

Financing to these projects also created around 1,200 new jobs in the community, in addition to creating alternative energy supplies, and reducing the carbon footprint.

Strata Solar CEO Markus Wilhelm said, "We work very closely with local employment and economic development offices where our major projects are built and we hire and train individuals for a secure future in solar development."
