The company, which plans to build a 1,250MW power project and a five million tonnes per annum aluminium smelter in Indonesia, will complete due diligence on a proposal for sourcing coal for the projects this month, The Economic Times reported.
NALCO chairman and managing director B L Bagra said the company has sought ten million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of coal supply over a 20-year period and is looking at two Indonesian mines.
Out of the ten MTPA of coal, about eight MTPA will be used at the power plant and smelter in Indonesia, and the remaining coal will be shipped to India to fuel the company’s operations.
