Executed through Gamesa Wind Turbines in two phases, the €33.5m Ludarva project includes 56 wind turbines of 850kW each.
During the first phase, 36 turbines have been installed and commissioned, while in the second phase, the remaining 20 turbines have been put into operation.
The latest project is NALCO’s second such green initiative to promote sustainable development by harnessing the unconventional and renewable energy sources with the first being a 50.4MW plant at Gandikota in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh in December 2012.
In addition, the company plans to develop the third wind power plant in its own mined-out area of Panchpatmali Bauxite deposit in Koraput.
