The fourth and final generating unit of the Panglang hydroelectric plant, Myanmar, was completed last week and will come online in March, according to the General Installation Company of China Water Conservancy and Hydropower (GICCWCH).

The 280MW power station is the largest in Myanmar and will provide one third of its total electricity supply.

The plant’s contractor is China’s Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Co. (YMEC), while GICCWCH installed the equipment. Construction on the project began in 1999, with the first three units becoming operational in 2004.
