Featuring high reliability and lower weight, the Ming Yang’s SCD wind turbine generators uses smaller permanent magnet power generators combined with a smaller gearbox, placed in a water-cooled sealed nacelle.
Ming Yang chairman and chief executive officer Chuanwei Zhang said that China Ming Yang Wind Power is confident that the innovative SCD wind turbine generators can provide an effective solution for off-shore wind power projects in China and beyond.
"We are pleased to enter into this heads of agreement and looking forward to the installation of our SCD 6.0MW off-shore prototype in Norway, and this marks another milestone in Ming Yang’s off-shore strategy," Zhang added.
The proposed cooperation and the pilot project are subject to certain conditions including a detailed agreement, due to be entered into by both parties in late 2014.
The generator also comprises two-bladed design capable of locking the blades in a horizontal position in order to withstand extreme off-shore weather conditions.
