MTI Micro has recently received a $1.2m grant from the DOE, and a $295,000 from NYSERDA to support power technologies that can advance New York toward a clean energy economy. The company will utilize both the funds for its field testing program.
Through this program, MTI Micro will be able to obtain feedback on Mobion products from key stakeholders, including the US Department of Defense (DOD), the DOE, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), industry experts, and consumer testers.
The company said that its proprietary Mobion technology has recently demonstrated an increase in power density from 84mW/sqcm to 100mW/sqcm at its Albany, New York-based lab, which the company believes will enable more energy dense micro fuel cells systems.
Peng Lim, president and CEO of MTI Micro Fuel Cells, said: “This program is putting our Mobion product in the hands of consumers making it a major milestone for MTI Micro and the entire hand-held DMFC industry.
