The company has recently optioned the property from uranium exploration firm CanAlaska Uranium and commenced drilling in mid-May.
Thinning ice and challenging environment allowed one diamond drill hole beneath Maguire Lake to reach bedrock and the high priority drill targets will be tested later this year, the company said.
The drills are currently being customized and re-tooled to better handle the unexpected overburden.
Once break up is complete, MPVC plans to commence testing numerous high priority targets on land that comprises resistivity lows, gravity lows and high radon results.
The company said that there are more than 15 high priority targets that each require multiple holes to test.
Covering approximately 143,603 hectares, the property is made up of three licenses, MEL-236B, MEL-166B, and MEL-247B, along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border. It lies within the Wollaston Domain trend, which hosts uranium deposits, including, Cigar Lake and Rabbit Lake.
