The government expects to spread the service to other areas subsequently by investing $3 million in the project.

The news agency quoted Miquelina Menezes, chairperson of the National Energy Fund (FUNAE), as saying: In the beginning, four provinces will benefit from this project, namely Cabo Delgado and Niassa in the north and Sofala and Manica in the central region.

FUNAE is also planning to set up 2,500 solar panel systems in Inhambane and Sofala provinces to provide electricity in rural places. About 300 schools and 300 health units are expected to be covered in the first phase.
