In the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Wind Farm on the coast of Blyth (northeast of England) new techniques for offshore wind are being investigated. The pipes we supplied have pumped water and sand. The wind turbine foundations were built in a dry dock in Newcastle. The foundations have a diameter of thirty meters and a tube pile of about sixty meters long.
During the sinking, the foundations are filled with seawater. For this purpose, the HDPE-100 piping system of Rombouts Kunststof Techniek BV is used. With this piping system, the foundations can also be pumped out. The pipes have a very long lifespan and, unlike steel pipes, do not adversely affect life in the sea. At the end of its life, HDPE-100 can be completely recycled.
